One Island, One Heart: Uniting for a Cleaner Cebu

On March 30, 2025, two passionate groups came together to save the Earth. With hearts full of hope and hands ready to work, the Saving Daigdig Project and Way of Life Organization worked together for a Coastal Clean-Up Drive in Sitio Magsaysay, Tabunok, Tabuelan, Cebu. Cebu, renowned for its stunning waters and pristine beaches, is not only home to breathtaking landscapes but also to the warm-hearted Cebuano people who take immense pride in their island and rich culture. 

Why was this clean-up held? To restore the beauty of Cebu. Having trash around the islands has become a normal occurrence when it should not be. This could be because of the lack of bins placed around the areas, or the unwillingness to walk around while holding trash. But it was clear that something needed to change, and that change started with the people of Cebu.

What makes this project so special is the spirit of the people who joined in—people of all ages, from children to adults, coming together for the love of their island. Using sacks to collect the waste, the strength and courage it took to face the stench, the tired backs from bending up and down, and the wrath of the summer heat, is something that we deeply appreciate and are thankful for.

We thank the sacrifice and efforts of each of our volunteers, and may this be an inspiration to everyone as well, that one simple act of throwing waste properly will already be a step forward to a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for all.

It’s the little things that add up, the willingness to walk a little further to throw the trash away, the moments of kindness, the sacrifices made without a second thought. These are the things that change the world, one small act at a time. Together, an impact was made, showing that it only needs one small step to make a difference.

As we look back, this project will inspire us to keep working together as communities. To make our environment a cleaner space. To slowly but surely restore Mother Earth to its natural beauty, and be the protectors this world needs. The effort doesn’t stop here. It’s a reminder that when communities come together with a shared vision, we can create a lasting impact.

The feeling of accomplishment after a productive day of being an Earth Protector brings joy and peace. The clean-up has made a safer environment, brought the community closer, and has spread the mission of saving the Earth.
